| Relaxed and friendly PUERTO JIMÉNEZ - known locally simply as
Jiménez - hasn't yet been overwhelmed by tourism, though it has plenty
of places to stay and eat and good public transport connections. There's
also the possibility of grabbing a lift with a truck to Carate , 43km
southwest, from where you can enter Corcovado. Drivers shouldn't try
going further south - including to Carate - in anything less than a 4WD
at any time of year. What looks like a good, firm dirt road can turn
into a quagmire after a sudden downpour. |
